What ingredients should I avoid in hair and beauty products?

What products/brands would you recommend and which should be avoided? What ingredients should I avoid in hair and beauty products?
The ingredient laurel sulfate can be damaging to your hair cuticle. You will find this ingredient in alot of your store bought, non- proffesional produts. LS tends to dry the hair out which results in breakage. The reason it is so common is because it is an inexpensive chemical. It is also found listed as one of the first ingredients which means it is the majority of the product. Try to find proffessional produts without Laurel Sulfate. The PH balance is more safe and effective for your tresses. Good luck. What ingredients should I avoid in hair and beauty products?
Mineral oil, SLS, petroleum, methylparabens, hydanton. Ehhhh...there are probably more BAD ingredients included in hair products than good, so perhaps it would be best if you began making your own hair products.

Coconut oil softens and deep conditions hair, olive oil repairs damaged hair, aloe vera gel is a WONDERFUL gel that can accentuate curls as well as moisturize hair, essential oils promote hair growth. Essential oils can be purchased at GNC while the other ingredients can be found at the grocery store and Wal-Mart. As for shampoo, it's best to make your own shampoo..SLS is included in the MAJORITY of shampoos (SLS is what makes shampoos ';foam';) and often times companies will disguise their use of SLS by claiming that they are using coconut oil. In other words, there is no possible way to know for SURE whether SLS is included in your shampoo or not.
rendering plant! They take dead animals and put them in a big pot and boil them until the fat comes to the top. Then they scrap the top layer of fat off and put it in many products. Mineral oil it clogs up your pores. Be careful when buying anything that has a fragrance a lot of times products will put fragrance in them just so you cant smell the gross stuff they put in .

Those are just a few main ones. You really need to read up on what you put on your skin because 80% goes into your blood and organs.
well i know that petroleum (vaslene) is bad for lip balms and moisterizing things like lotion...etc, yes petroleum is a natural moisterizer but its used in lotions, so once the lotion dries on your skin/lips it dries the skin/lips. look for avenno and and burt bees.
the only thing that i know u should avoid is alcohol in shampoo conditioner or anything for u hair
